Well a buddy of mine invited to an invite only cannon shoot. It was a weekend deal which was totaly insane. To say I had fun would be an understatement. Great group of guys. Thought I would post some pics for you all.

That looks like a lot of fun! How far do those bowling balls fly?

I've been told that it can go 700+ yards, during the meet he had it set at around 80 degrees so it wouldn't lauch them in the 700 yard range. He was getting 300 to 400 feet in the air and about 100 yards out. One thing that was wicked was the nose that the bowling balls made due to having finger holes drilled in them. One hell of a wistling noise. Does get your attention when it's coming down no matter where you were standing.

That would be a lot of fun. How much black powder does it take to do that??

Not sure for the BB mortar but the golf ball mortar it was less then 60 grains per shot. So a 1# can will last at least 10-10 rounds cannon shoot meets. I plan on getting a golf ball mortar made for me so I can get into the fun of shooting.

There are a few of them on Guns America. No idea if that is a decent price or not.

Looks like a dang good time! I'd love to get a golf ball mortar. I wonder what the CA regulations are one one?

No idea, but it would sure be a lot of fun out in the desert! I wonder if it is a legal method for taking coyotes?

What do you know about the legality of owning a golf ball mortar in CA?
