I have Just recently become interested in coyoty hunting and I certainly new at this I have hunted small game and deer since i was 12 ( I am now 70) so hunting is not new to me. I have puchased a Savage in Ruger 204 cal.. I would like to know the what the best mouth call would be and can you hunt them during the day. I live in Pa. and it seems that everybody hunts them at night. I plan to use the Hornady 40 vmax. Sure would apperciate any help revkelly

A good rifle tripod is a must. I hunt with a 22-250 or my .17 hmr which ever feels right on that day. I bought a cyclops 15 million candle power hunting light which turns night into day. Its light weight and last about four hours on a single charge, it also comes with a cigarette lighter adapter. Like you I have hunted all my life but I'm only 54. As for calls I have been using the ultimate predator kit made by Haydel's game calls it come with a dvd that helps you see if your tones are close to the way they are supose to sound. Bought it at Academy Sports, good luck and good hunting

I agree with Redneck Trevor, down load some sounds then mimic them with your hand call. Less Johnson calls are good, Circle calls are good. Most hand calls will work when you learn how to say the rite things to get them to come in.

Just about any hand call will work well for you. Just getting started you may want to begin with a closed reed call. Once you master that grab an open reed, which is a much more versatile call.
