Today my name went on a waiting list for a Kel-Tec PMR-30

Today I made a trip over to St Joesph, MO to visit Dean's Gun Shop (map and contact info) with my next door neighbor. He had never been over there and happens to shares with me the same interest in firearms. While we were there I asked about the availability of the Kel-Tec PMR-30. Although it is currently being sold at online gun actions, they didn't have any on hand. They said they had 100 of them on order and added my name to their contact list to notified when one arrived.

Have you seen one in your gun store yet?

While I was out I picked up a box of 30 grain V-Max ammunition for the 22 Magnum. Once the pistol arrives I intend to try several types to ammunition to see how evertything shoots.

Should American pistol respond to Chicago the way Barrett did to LA?

After reading the latest handgun restrictions in Chicago that resulted from the Supreme court decision I had something that occurred to me. Perhaps American pistol manufacturers should take the same stance with Chicago that Barrett did with LAPD over the 50 cal ban in California. If you're not familiar with the letter to the LAPD, Barrett refused to sell or service products for the LAPD which they had worked to keep out of the hands of law abiding citizens.

So I say all American firearms manufacturer should refuse to sell firearms to, or provide service for currently owned firearms, which are owned by the city of Chicago so long as Chicago continues to restrict those firearms to law abiding citizens.

After nearly a century, Remington returns to its rightful place as the manufacturer of one of America's most revered handguns; the 1911. From the moment you wrap your hand around it's double diamond grips and lay your finger on the polished aluminium of the telltale short trigger, you'll know first-hand why the 1911 has such a devoted following. And modern enhancements make the best even better. The 1911 R1 features a flared and lowered ejection port; beveled magazine well; loaded chamber indicator; high profile dovetailed single-dot front and two-dot rear sights; a crisp 3.5 - 5 pound trigger pull; and a match grade stainless steel barrel and barrel bushing. It also has the Series 80-style firing pin block safety.
So you can be assured of all the pride, precision and out-of-the-box performance you've come to expect from the Remington branded products.

Enjoyed a little pistol shooting in the back yard

Tonight I snuck out of the house and did a little pistol shooting in the back yard. After all those years in CA of having to drive an hour one way to the range where I could shoot being able to step out into the yard and shoot is fantastic. The results show what I already knew; I need to spend more time shooting! Now that I have begun to carry every day I've made a priority to start shooting more often. It's been a loooooong time since I routinely shot the pistol but I am seeing improvement.

The steel is a 50 % IDPA target mounted at a downward angle to deflect the copper and brass down. It's tearing up the 4 x 4 it's mounted to but overall I am pretty happy with it. And of course the orange prairie dog is the Duraseal target I bought last year in CA and shot the snot out of with rifles.

Picked up my Missouri concealed carry permit

On Monday after just a 10 day wait I received the phone call from my local sheriffs department to tell me that my permit was ready to be picked up. I made my way in to the court house where the sheriffs office is located and happily picked it up. A quick trip across the street to the local Missouri Department of Revenue licensing office and I was have my CCW ID card made and printed up. My Missouri permit allows me to now carry in the additional states of Colorado, Arkansas and Kansas.

I spent a grand total of 10 days waiting for the approval after submitting my application and just under $55 to gain my permit. MUCH cheaper and faster than California!
