This is a question for those long time predator hunters, but if anyone knows the answer please chime in. Is there a trend for the rise and fall in coyote pelt prices? Are the prices constantly changing or have they been spiraling downward for a long time now? With the prices I saw posted in the Predator Xtreme last year it just didn't seem to be worth the effort to skin a coyote.

Here is Spokane Wa, I found one guy that will give you $20.00 for the whole dog but only in jan and feb before or after that zippo and I have not found anybody that wants pelts.

There was a guy in Oxnard that has been in the fur business for 20 years or so I guess. He went out of business this year cause fur prices were so low if that tells you anything.

On the flip side I am going to be skinning everything, freezing them and fleshing and stretching all at once in the summer. I'll send them off to McCrosky's to get tanned for $12.00 a piece. then it's worth it to get rid of them as tanned pelts...

I think Jeph has the right idea, sell the tanned hides at places such as gun shows.

Jeph do you have an address for McCroskys. A friend of mine is talking about making a coyote vest. He lives in the ultra liberal part of town and figures he will drive the bunny hugger crowd nuts wearing it around town. I havent been saving any, but at that price I might want one for a rug or wall decoration in our downstairs faimily room. I shot a really nice male the other day and left it in the cold to get the fleas off but when i came back something had already gotten to it. The hides on the coyotes in the central part of the state look real nice this time of year and if I get another large one I would like to get it tanned.

Thanks, I bookmarked the site. I will pass the info along to my buddy. Maybe I can inspire him to quit making excuses and get out calling with me.

Dang I suck. I don't why I had $12.00 in my head. Well, it's still better than the 60 or so I usually get charged by a taxi.

What does the price of a pelt have to do with what you get charged for a taxi ride? And why are you taking a taxi?

I'm curious to see how they turn out.

Any idea how to make them soft and supple? They'd sell better that way.

I am pretty sure they will be that way once they get back since they will be tanned for hangers.
